Stan
Burgess comes to Frederick Pottery School from Baltimore Clayworks
where he has been since 2003.
Stan has recently served as the project manager for Clayworks’
new wood kiln, which he helped design
under Kevin Crowe’s tutelege. In that capacity he coordinated
the wood kiln building workshop in May 2005.
Shortly thereafter in the summer 2005 he began assisting Bill
van Gilder in the design
and construction of his new wood kiln.
Stan has a B.S. from
Louisiana State University in philosophy and classical languages.
He also has an M.L.S. in Library and Information Science from
LSU. He has a Masters in Architecture
from the University of Texas at Austin. He also has continuing
education Certificates 1 & 2 in
Ornamental Horticulture for Longwood Gardens. Stan was a Design
Manager for The Rouse Company
from 1984-2003. From 2004 through 2005 he worked in the same
capacity for The Mills Corporation.
Stan lives in Catonsville with his wife Lora and two labrador
retrievers, Xena and Sam. He is working days,
nights and weekends to establish SprungRhythmPottery.
